Thoughts: May 7, 2017

It's 69 degrees outside, and sunny. I'd planned on cutting back on coffee, but here I remain, in my reading chair, sipping on a hot cup while watching the sun stream in ribbons through the window.

Jason Isbell is on the record player, all scratchy and warm, singing about leaving the past behind and making a new life. I slept well.

Whittaker is curled behind my chair, snoring at 9 a.m. after a long, pre-dawn walk this morning, resting up ahead of an afternoon he'll spend chasing tennis balls and neighborhood squirrels.

My local REI is having a sale today, and I'll probably buy gear I don't need. I may get a haircut, and pay extra for the straight-razor shave package.

Later, as the sun starts to set, I'll put in a few miles on the Swamp Rabbit Trail and watch spring blooms wither into summer.

Good morning.
