Think Progress just published their take on the Elk River chemical spill in Kanawha County, West Virginia.

It's a fine read, I suppose. But it suffers from one of journalism’s seven deadly sins: it’s unoriginal. Indeed, it’s been written hundreds of times. And been written better.

I’m exhausted with the constant barrage of stories that frame the Elk River chemical spill within the narrative of West Virginia’s poverty.

We get it. We’re beholden to industry. We’re uneducated and obese. Thanks for pointing it out. Again.

I’m more interested in what we’re going to do about our problems than the fact they exist.
